Getting a better master
Leave headroom. A mix peaking near −6 dB gives the engine room to work; an already-limited mix gains little.
Master the final mix. Fix balance problems in the mix — mastering shapes the whole track, not single parts.
Pick the genre you release in. It sets the EQ curve and how hard the limiter pushes.
Mastering never changes your original file. Both versions stay here and in Audio History, where you can play, compare and download them again.
